“After careful review of the op-ed, “How Google Alters Search Queries to Get at Your Wallet,” and relevant material provided to us following its publication, WIRED editorial leadership has determined that the story does not meet our editorial standards. It has been removed.”
WIRED ran an op-ed accusing Google of rewriting search queries to push ad revenue, then deleted it four days later. The replacement note names no error and no correction. It cites only “relevant material provided to us” after publication, and it does not say who provided it. When the subject of a story sends material and the story disappears, readers deserve to know what was wrong with it.
