“Developers of virtual private network (VPN) apps are reporting that their products are again being pulled from Apple’s App Store in Russia.”
One locked-down app store means one government demand can kill your VPN. Russia has also added Apple and Microsoft to its state surveillance registry, which reportedly opens local users’ correspondence to its media watchdog. The part to worry about is closer to home. Several U.S. states chasing age-gating laws have suggested banning VPNs too. Same tool, same logic, better PR.
