Waymo runs about 4,000 robotaxis, and 80 percent of them sit in two states. The growth now rides on the Ojai, a minivan built in China by Geely’s Zeekr. Alphabet plans to have 5,100 of them imported by year end. “Supposed to” does the heavy lifting in that sentence. Profitability is still a promise after 15 cities and 500,000 paid rides a week.
