Walmart Begins Building Out Nationwide EV Charging Network Across America

“With a store or club located within 10 miles of approximately 90% of Americans, we are uniquely positioned to deliver a convenient charging option.”

Walmart is rolling out EV charging stations across 19 states, building on a 2023 promise to complete a nationwide network by 2030. They claim stores are within 10 miles of 90% of Americans, making them uniquely positioned for charging infrastructure. That’s the pitch anyway. Convenient for Walmart that the infrastructure subsidies flow to whoever owns the parking lot. By 2030 they’ll either be EV charging kingpins or stuck with expensive paperweights, depending on whether the EV transition actually materializes at scale.
