ProtonVPN reported the leak in March 2020 on iOS 13. It still leaks on iOS 15.6.1. Much of the traffic that skips the tunnel goes to Apple’s own 17.x addresses. Apple calls this expected behavior, and the VPN companies keep selling the subscriptions anyway.
