SFC bought a Vizio TV in an Orange County store, asked for the GPL source code, and got nothing. The judge called Vizio’s evidence “inadmissible” and sent SFC’s claim as a third-party beneficiary to trial. If that holds, anyone who buys hardware running Linux can sue for the source. Vizio is paying expensive lawyers to argue its customers have no right to code it always owed them.
