“We are 100 percent fiber optic. Everything that we’re doing is all underground. We’re not doing aerial because we really want to protect the infrastructure and make sure we’re having a reliable connection.”
Samuel Herman and Alexander Baciu in Saline, Michigan got tired of paying Comcast $120 a month for asymmetric gigabit and founded Prime-One, a fiber ISP offering symmetrical gigabit for $80, 2Gbps for $95, and 5Gbps for $110. No contracts, no equipment fees, no installation fees, first 30 days free. They started serving customers in January 2025 and have already built out to 1,500 homes. The fact that two guys in their twenties can stand up a competitive fiber network really underscores how little effort the incumbents are putting in.
