Transmission went more than two years between major releases. The 4.0 beta brings over 1,000 commits, BitTorrent v2 support, and a daemon that uses 50% fewer CPU cycles with 25,000 torrents loaded. The core shrank 18% by throwing out custom code for the standard library. The notes admit the project used to sit on bug reports and pull requests. Over 300 of the new commits came from volunteers.
