Niri takes the tiling window manager concept and turns it sideways. Instead of a grid, you get an infinite horizontal strip of windows that you scroll through. It’s written in Rust, runs on Wayland, and the developer won’t touch Xwayland with a ten foot pole. No graphical config. You edit a KDL file by hand. Not in Debian or Ubuntu repos. This is Linux desktop computing for people who think i3 was too friendly.
