“Drop bread, get toast.”
The Sunbeam Radiant lowers the bread by its own weight and stops when a thermostat says the toast is done, not when a timer runs out. It sold from 1949 into the late 80s. Modern toasters add a “bit more” button to patch a problem this one never had. Progress in appliances mostly means cheaper parts and more buttons.
