Threads got past 100 million signups by piggybacking on Instagram. Similarweb has time spent per user falling from 20 minutes to 8. Meta now blocks EU users who reach it by VPN, and deleting Threads still means deleting your whole Instagram account. Signups are easy to count when leaving costs you the other app.
