“To be frank, Tesla isn’t sharing its 48V architecture from the Cybertruck for purely altruistic reasons.”

Cars have run on 12V since the 1950s, and the Cybertruck is Tesla’s first vehicle wired for 48V throughout. Handing Ford the document costs Tesla nothing, because Ford can’t conjure a 48V supplier base out of a PDF. If rivals do switch, Tesla’s own parts get cheaper through volume and the hiring pool learns Tesla’s system. Tesla gets the applause now and the discount later.
