“Pavel Durov, billionaire co-founder and chief executive of the Telegram messaging app, was arrested at the Bourget airport outside Paris on Saturday evening, TF1 TV said, citing an unnamed source.”
Durov flew his private jet into France on a French arrest warrant. He holds French citizenship and runs an app with about 900 million users. He left Russia in 2014 after refusing to shut down opposition communities on VK. Russia’s embassy is now taking “immediate steps” on his behalf, and France is the country holding him.
