“Almost all of it was written by 2 people, with occasional contributions from others.”
SumatraPDF is small and fast because it talks to Win32 directly with no GUI framework. Two people built it after hours over 15 years. The author learned PDF rendering at Palm, on a laptop the company killed weeks before launch. The best Windows PDF reader is a side project that outlived the product that started it.
