Intel missed mobile, and mobile volume is what paid for TSMC to pass it. Now Apple, AMD and Amazon all win on TSMC’s process. Intel designs and builds its own chips and leads at neither. Splitting off the fabs is the obvious fix, and it is the one thing an Intel CEO has never wanted to do.
