One regex in a PostCSS plugin cost 4.6 seconds per build. Storing semver versions as strings in Babel cost 4.7 more. SVGO lost seconds to string casting and nested functions. None of this needed a rewrite in Rust. It needed someone to open a profiler, which apparently nobody had done in years.
