The two largest open hardware retailers in the United States have been allies for twenty years. The split is the kind of public falling out that nobody who reads the official statement will fully understand, because both sides will only release the parts that make them look good. The hobbyist hardware ecosystem is small enough that this damages everyone in it. Whatever the underlying cause, the outcome is worse for the community than for either company.
