“Combined solar PV and battery costs have fallen below the levelized cost of fossil generation in every major grid region.”
The argument used to be whether renewables could compete on price. That argument is over. Solar plus batteries is now the cheapest way to add new capacity, full stop, in every market that has run an honest auction. The remaining obstacles are political and bureaucratic. Grid interconnects, permitting, and utility incumbents protecting fossil assets. The economics already lost. The institutions are catching up.
