“AT&T is just one of several victims who had sensitive data stolen from their Snowflake instances.”
Two men stand accused of taking about 50 billion AT&T call and text records, covering nearly every AT&T customer. The indictment says they squeezed at least three victims for 36 bitcoin, about $2.5 million. AT&T reportedly paid $370,000 to have its records deleted, on the word of the people who stole them. About 165 Snowflake customers got hit, and the common thread was accounts with no multi-factor login.
