The benchmarks are the embarrassment Microsoft has been hoping nobody would publish. Faster CPUs, more RAM, faster storage, and the OS responds slower than the version it replaced. The reason is not mysterious. The OS is now half ad delivery system, half AI scaffolding, and the parts that used to be the operating system have been pushed to the back of the queue. The performance regression is not a bug. It is a product decision.
