California AB 2654 would ban charging different people different prices for the same item based on harvested data. The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce complained and the Board of Supervisors stalled its endorsement. The FTC already documented the pattern: get profiled as a new parent and you see the expensive thermometer first. Nobody defending this practice will explain why the personalized price is always the higher one.
