“The grid shows that 24.9% has been mapped to the Seabed 2030 resolution, leaving about 75% to be done over the next 6 years if the project’s goal is to be met.”

Seabed 2030 started in 2017 with 6% of the ocean floor mapped to modern standards. Seven years later it sits at 24.9%. The project runs on donated data from fishing, cruise and cargo ships, and half the ocean is deeper than 3,200 meters. Now it needs 75 points in six years after managing 19 in seven. We know the surface of Mars better than our own seafloor.
