“It’s literally the logo they use for this particular software package.”
Sandia’s SIERRA modeling software used a graphic that looks like a cutaway of a compact thermonuclear warhead, primary and cylindrical secondary included. It appears in at least half a dozen presentations on OSTI.gov from roughly 2007 to 2011, including one given overseas. The only officially sanctioned public picture of a staged weapon is two circles in a box. A FOIA request for that guidance came back with even “gun-type” and “implosion” redacted, while a weapons lab put a warhead cutaway on its logo.
