Strager ported 17k lines of quick-lint-js from C++ to Rust line by line to settle the build-time argument. The Rust version came out longer, not shorter. At 100k+ lines, C++ full builds were faster and Rust incremental builds were much slower. He dropped the port. C++ build times are a meme, and Rust managed to match them.
