“In fact, remote workers often drive more often than their in-office counterparts by taking several short car trips throughout the day.”

The headline number is up to 54% for people home four or more days a week, and only if they cut appliance use, drive an EV or run on solar or wind. Remote workers take more short car trips, run the air conditioning and dishwasher, and move out of dense cities. The 95% figure some politicians quote is, per the Cornell co-author, not true. Remote work is a fine perk. Selling it as a climate policy is lazy.
