“In a post shared by researcher Dominic Alvieri, BlackCat claims to have stolen 80GB of data from Reddit and threatens to release it publicly if demands aren’t met.”
BlackCat wants $4.5 million and a rollback of Reddit’s API pricing in exchange for 80GB stolen in February’s phishing attack. Reddit called that phish “sophisticated and highly-targeted” and swore no non-public user data was touched. Now it declines to comment on the record. A ransomware gang has the same demands as Reddit’s own moderators, and Steve Huffman is ignoring both.
