“This protein, the leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 15 (LRRC15), is an inbuilt receptor that binds the SARS-CoV-2 virus without passing on the infection.”
LRRC15 grabs the virus spike and holds it away from the ACE2 cells it wants to infect. Infected lungs light up with it, healthy ones barely show it. Three independent groups at Sydney, Oxford and Brown with Yale found the same thing, which beats one lab’s press release. The lungs had a built-in defense all along, and nobody had spotted it.
