“The short version is that at least seven experts spent roughly ten full-time days trying to find out a basic fact about my mother’s insurance, and finally failed.”
The basic fact was whether Medicare or Anthem pays for a nursing facility stay. The hospital bed cost several thousand dollars a day while a SNF costs a few hundred, and still nobody could get an answer. An admissions officer with ten years on the job admitted he has no idea how the system works. The records then had to travel by fax. Hospitals can run an MRI but cannot answer a phone.
