OpenAI is walking away from expanding its Stargate data center with Oracle

Oracle bet the farm on becoming the AI infrastructure provider and signed up to build the largest single data center in human history on a handshake from Sam Altman. Now OpenAI is quietly cutting commitments and Oracle is left with a half-built complex in Abilene and a debt load that assumed full occupancy. The lesson for every other vendor courting OpenAI is that the contract is the only thing that matters.
