Amazon put in $50 billion. Nvidia and SoftBank each added $30 billion. $35 billion of Amazon’s investment is contingent on OpenAI going public or achieving AGI. That is a real clause in a real contract. OpenAI is valued at $852 billion without ever turning a profit. The largest private financing in tech history is also the most spectacular act of faith since the dot-com era.
