Office is too slow, so Microsoft is making it load at Windows startup

“A cynic might wonder why Microsoft is making Office start when the computer boots instead of, you know, just making Office more efficient so it can run faster.”

Microsoft will preload Office at Windows startup so Word appears to open faster. Everything else on the PC gets slower. It turns on by default on machines with 8GB of RAM. Making Office faster was apparently not on the table.
