“The proposed law requires every 3D printer sold in New York to refuse to print certain regulated objects.”
The blocking technology does not exist, cannot work in principle, and would not stop a determined criminal from buying a printer in New Jersey. The bill is the same kind of theater that produced the metal detector outside the Vermont gun show. The legislators get a press hit, the manufacturers get a compliance burden, and the actual problem the law is supposed to address gets one inch closer because of it. As usual.
