“It is based on a hard carbon anode and a Prussian White-based cathode, and is free from lithium, nickel, cobalt and graphite.”
Northvolt says its sodium-ion cell hit over 160 watt-hours per kilogram in its own lab in Västerås. The pitch is cheap iron and sodium instead of cobalt and lithium, aimed at grid storage in India, the Middle East and Africa. The release has a CEO quote about the energy transition and no price, no factory and no ship date. A lab result is not a product until someone can buy it.
