ATC told American 106 to cross runway 31 Left at Kilo. The 777 crossed runway 4 Left at Juliet instead, in front of a Delta 737 already rolling for takeoff. A controller yelling “cancel takeoff clearance” was the only safety system that worked. American’s crew then flew on to London like nothing happened.
