Tesla hires about 30,000 people a year and ended last year at about 127,000 employees, up 28%. Musk now wants every hire, contractors included, to wait for his personal email. Nobody reads 30,000 approvals, so this is a hiring freeze with a CEO’s name on it. Tesla needs the cost cuts to pay for its 2023 price reductions.
