“Under the current Apple App Store Guidelines, iOS browser apps must use WebKit.”
Every browser on the iPhone is Safari in a costume, and Mozilla and Google are both quietly building real engines for the day that changes. Mozilla has ported Gecko to iOS twice before, in 2010 and 2015, and never shipped either. Nobody is betting on Apple growing a conscience. The only thing that moves this is the EU Digital Markets Act forcing Apple’s hand.
