Mozilla is laying off roughly 60 people, shutting down Hubs and shrinking VPN, Relay and mozilla.social. The memo calls the Mastodon bet “a noble idea but one we struggled to execute.” Firefox still brings in the vast majority of the money, and that money depends on a deal with Google. The fix for a shrinking browser is apparently more AI in it.
