“The MinIO repository will no longer accept community contributions or release open-source builds.”
MinIO was the open S3-compatible storage that ran a meaningful chunk of the self-hosted infrastructure on the internet. The company decided open source was not generating enough revenue and pulled the rug. The contributors are out, the forks are now mandatory, and every CTO who built on MinIO has a migration project they did not budget for. Garm, Ceph, and SeaweedFS just had a recruiting day they did not have to plan.
