“Minecraft now uses SDL3 instead of GLFW for window management, input and platform integration. On Linux systems, the game will now use and prefer Wayland natively if available.”

GLFW held Minecraft’s window and input layer together for over a decade, and Linux players spent most of that decade filing bugs about it. SDL3 gets native Wayland, proper scancode handling, and better controller support for free. Nobody will notice this update unless it breaks, which is the mark of infrastructure work actually worth doing.
