Microsoft is reportedly plotting a future without OpenAI

“OpenAI’s technology is embedded in Microsoft products, from Copilot to Bing’s AI-powered search features and Microsoft 365’s productivity tools.”

Microsoft put over $13 billion into OpenAI and is now testing models from xAI, DeepSeek, and Meta. It already ships its own Phi-4 inside Copilot. OpenAI can now use other clouds. Both sides are building an exit.
