Bing Chat was going to reinvent search. A few weeks in, it answers a Honda question with a TrueCar ad and prices higher than Honda’s own. Microsoft says it will share the ad revenue with publishers whose content fed the answer, and those publishers never agreed to be training data. A search ad box has edges. A sponsored chat answer just sounds like the truth.
