“Meta acted on the claims without checking the rightsholder, metadata or edit history of the posts.”
The exploit is Facebook’s own Edit Post button. Scammers drop stolen video into an old page, and Rights Manager reads the post date instead of the edit history, so the thief looks like the original creator. One financial educator lost 36 videos this way. Three suits are now in the Delhi High Court, and Meta’s last copyright transparency report is over two years old. Automated enforcement with no verification step is not a bug they missed. It is the cost they chose not to pay.
