The jury found Meta willfully violated New Mexico’s unfair practices act by misleading users about platform safety and enabling child exploitation. $375 million is rounding error on Meta’s balance sheet. The real damage is phase two, starting May 4, where a judge will decide whether Meta has to actually change how its platforms work. Meta plans to appeal. Of course it does.
