“The Chief was traveling 87 mph, bound for Chicago.”
A town of 171 people ran toward an Amtrak derailment that left four dead and 150 injured. The train hit a dump truck at the County Road 113 crossing, an unguarded rural crossing like thousands of others. The volunteers are the good part of the story. The crossing with no gates is the part nobody fixes.
