Marginalia’s index went from 50-100M documents a year ago to 220M last crawl, with 290-300M expected next round. It just moved out of Löfgren’s living room onto a real server, funded by NLnet, FUTO and Patreon. One person and a few grants are building an independent search index. No ad business, no tracking, no trillion-dollar parent required.
