“Out of 360 samples, 72 survived the trip, and 17 of those developed into normal blastocysts.”
Teruhiko Wakayama’s team sent frozen two-cell mouse embryos to the ISS in 2021 and let them grow for four days. Seventeen normal blastocysts out of 360 samples is under 5 percent. It is a first, and a thin one. Most of the result is a launch and a return trip that killed four out of five samples before biology got a vote.
