Apple finally made a $599 laptop. The MacBook Neo runs an A18 Pro chip in a fanless 2.7 pound body with 16 hours of battery. Four colors. This is Apple doing to Chromebooks what the original MacBook Air did to netbooks. The real story is the $499 education price. That is a direct kill shot at every school district buying cheap Windows machines and Chromebooks. Whether the two USB-C ports and lack of a fan hold up for real work remains to be seen, but at this price point Apple just reset the floor for what a laptop should be.
