“Each SLS booster is now projected to cost $266 million, or about twice the launch cost of a Falcon Heavy.”
SLS lifts about 27 tons to the Moon. The Saturn V lifted 49. It flies once every two years for about four billion dollars, and the lander still needs somewhere between four and “high teens” Starship tanker launches to fill up in orbit. Apollo 11 took 6 days in transit. Artemis 3 takes 24. Sixty years of progress, and the new plan is slower, smaller and pricier.
