6.11 adds block drivers written in Rust, atomic writes in the block layer and getrandom() in the vDSO. Atomic writes depend on the drive telling the truth. One SSD maker told a kernel developer it would not guarantee even a single block written atomically. The kernel can only promise what the firmware vendor will sign for.
