Colorado now bans noncompetes for anyone earning under $101,250 and fines employers $5,000 per worker for bad ones. There is even a criminal law with possible jail time. Eleven states plus D.C. have moved on this. Employers hand noncompetes to sandwich makers because it keeps wages down, not because anyone steals trade secrets from a deli.
